Former Punjab Congress Committee Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu was sentenced to a one-year jail term on Thursday in the 1988 road rage case. The sentencing comes at a time when his political career has been on a downward trend.

After losing the assembly election, Sidhu was forced to resign as Punjab Congress chief and later has been facing party action for indiscipline and alleged anti- party activities.
