Former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan dies at 86

Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India, Tirunellai Narayana Iyer Seshan died in Chennai on Sunday following a cardiac arrest. He was 86.

TN Seshan ruthlessly enforced the model code of conduct and led game-changing electoral reforms in the 1990s when he served as the 10th CEC from December 12, 1990, to December 11, 1996.

TN Seshan’s daughter Srividhya said he was not keeping good health for the past couple of years and passed away at 9.45 pm.
