Many Muslims attend the special prayer meeting in the mosque. During the ninth, tenth and 11th day of Muharram, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. This year the day that marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussein is likely to fall on September 10th. The day is also called Ashura.
People celebrate the day by visiting the mosque, offering prayers and spending time with their near and dear ones. People also cook sweet foods like sweet rice and share it with their family and neighbour while breaking the fast.
