Small quake strikes just north of San Leandro

A magnitude 2.6 earthquake hit the East Bay on Sunday evening.

The small temblor struck at about 9:25 p.m. just north of San Leandro. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the quake at a depth of 4.3 kilometers.

The epicenter was just west of the Oakland Zoo. The quake originated on the Hayward Fault, according to the USGS.
