Heavy rains in Mumbai made a comeback on Friday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) yesterday issued a statement saying that Maharashtra is likely to experience heavy to light rains over the weekend. Due to favourable weather conditions, the monsoon is likely to hit the Maharashtrian region. Heavy rains lashed out in Mumbai on Friday.

The city struggled with severe traffic jams and water-logging, while the people scrambled to reach their homes. Even as the incessant downpour continued till Saturday morning, the local train services were stopped, while nine flights were diverted at the city airport. Heavy rains are expected to cause floods in low-lying areas affecting the normal lives of Mumbaikars on Saturday. The IMD had forecasted fairly widespread rain in the region.
